L is for Levi

I am going room by room in the decorating process. The only room I was having trouble with was Levi's! It surprised me too. I just want it to be a fun place for him to play and learn. The idea started while I was looking on Pintrest (BEST SITE EVER!). I am assigning our family members a letter to hang on Levi's wall. This way everyone will have a part in the design of his room! I am really excited about this idea! I want all sizes of letters... BIG and small. The colors in his room are going to be greens, blues, and greys. But white, black, and silver will make an appearance :)
I am also thinking about doing the bottom half of the wall in chalk board paint. We will hang a sheet of tin metal on the top half of one wall so we can hang Levi's artwork. I am not sure about anything else, but I'd say that's a start! It will probably be my favorite room when it's all said and done.

Even Ground

I thought my dad was a little crazy when we first walked into this house. It needs a lot of TLC, to say the least. The uneven floor was my main concern. I can see past wallpaper and old appliances, but being able to put a marble on the floor and watch it roll down the hallway stressed me out a little. It didn't take long for me to see past that too. I just told myself, "This is Jackson. If you want to live here, you have to deal with it." We found a great man to fix the foundation issues. His name is Paul Reed. We set up an appointment with another foundation company one Monday afternoon. Well, they never showed and my dad drove from Monroe to meet with them, so I got on the phone in a hurry, calling every number I could find. Luckily, Paul answered! He wasn't too far away, so he agreed to come meet with us. After spending 5 minutes with him, I knew he meant business. He calmed our nerves, reassuring us he had seen worse. Paul and his crew have been at the house everyday for a week now. They have worked some kind of magic in the basement! Leveling the floor has led to many other problems, but you have to start somewhere. I am going to miss Paul and the guys. We are so thankful for everything they have done!

A Lot of Loving

Well, I have decided to blog about our new house and the renovations we are doing. We bought the house from a retired dentist, ironic, I know. They moved out 3 or so years ago. So, the house needs much TLC. After meeting Dr. and Mrs. Fowler at the closing, I realized just how much love was put into this home already. The Fowlers have 3 boys. This was their home. They lived, played, and studied in this house. Something their son said really stuck with me... "We killed a lot of Indians in that backyard." I think it was the honesty in his eyes that made me realize how hard it was to sell, but I hope to do it justice. It will look different than when the Fowler boys grew up there, but the love will still be very present.

We started working this past week. Things changed quickly. I am super excited about working with my dad and Will. There is a lot of work to do, but I can see it already.

On this blog, I will be asking for advice and opinions. I think it will be fun to see what you have to say. I already have several questions, but they will come in time. Thanks for reading... Stay tuned :)
